Exercise over, poker luck gone...

Alright well I tried to get back in the grove of things but to no avail. I lost several turnies and finally gave up after for the third time in a day I flopped the nut str8 only to be out drawn by a full house or a flush... Oh well more to come...

Exercise...Exercise...Exercise

Ok... for my readers that are not in the military that is a familiar sound during well an exercise. The loud speakers say that before annoucing a training attack or what not. Needless to say the twelve hour shifts are severly limiting my ability to play poker. ALthough last night I did have time I decided not to play because I did not feel I could focus enough to play.

Instead I started reading some of the blogs that are out there. I first went to Mark's blog. It had a link to an interesting post on Pocket Fives which talked about the possibilty of having a Satellite tourney to the sunday million in a triple shoot out structure but the the top three of each table advance. I reall like this Idea as I ususally end up out heads up on the first table. There was also a link to a blog that I found very benefitial or enlightening to read. irockpoker is a high stakes cash game player. Now usually a high stakes players blog is fun to read but does not help me understand the level I am playing any more then I did before. Irockpoker's is a bit different it talks alot in generality of poker the titles to the post are memorable and I actually wrote a couple down to hang beside my computer so I can remember it when I play. The first one I wrote down was Never Depend on a Bad Player to Make a Good Play.I also found Ego Doesn’t Pay the Bills very mind clearing so to speak.

Well maybe i will not be as tired tonight and be able to play at least 1 Sit and Go tonight.

FINALLY!!! A Satellite win!!!

Yesterday I played four double shoot outs I final tabled 3 of them. The first two I went out before I even got payed. It is somewhat annoying when you play a satellite and win the first table but the tourney was not full so you dont get any money. The third one I started at around 10:30 at night my time and it did not end until 2:15am. But it was worth it I won a ticket that I promptly sold. My bank roll stands at 409.00. Very happy about this. As I have said before next week is an exercise so my poker playing will be minimum...

MOVING ON UP...

Last night I placed in a $39 sat to the Sunday warm up that brings me up to about 250.00 in my account. I have an exercise coming up next week so my poker play will be very little. After the exercise though I plan on taking a couple days off... One to play poker and one to hang out with the family.

I would like to welcome back Valerie who as decided to grace the blogging world with her presence. It is a good thing too since I was very close to removing her from my blogger links. J/K Val. Hopefully we can get on the tables again. If you need to get some advice from someone on how to play Satellites on Stars go see Mark's site. I can honestly say without his insight to these sat. I would not have won the two tickets that I have. Now even though I have won a little money playing the satellites I think it is time that I concentrate on SnGs.

It is an odd thing since I started playing SnG's again. The $5 ones kick my ass. However, the $10 I have a strong showing making a profit playing a mix of the $10 SnG's. I prefer the 18 man though. I often find it difficult to survive the bubble in a single table but add a second table and 1 more payout spot and I seem to do Ok.
Last night on top the sat. I played a $10 18 man which I placed 2nd, and a $10 a single table that I took first in.

I AM BACK...

Ok I did not take that much of a break from poker but I have played less during the week and that has actually helped me out. When I do play I do the best that I can to pay attention to the game and nothing else. I am up around $100 since my last post but I am shipping that money off to someone for a super secret squirrel mission.

Anyways more to come later I plan on playing a $10 45 man tonight so I will give and update later today...

BAD WEEKEND!!! A good Decision?

JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THIS WAS A HORRIBLE WEEKEND. I NOT ONLY PLAYED BADLY I CHASED MY MONEY AT HIGHER LIMITS!!! I LOST MY BANKROLL!!! DAMN!!!

Ok now that I got that over with dont count me out yet... Although you can count me out for the month of April pretty much I will be back soon... I am comtemplating a new strategy to to rebuild a bankroll... I am looking at some of the free roll tourneys, and such I am looking to cash in some of my FPP to play a couple of sats to sunday million to get some cash into my account. I also found a site that will pay for play money chips. I will be back playing REAL money real soon... I have also decided part of the problem was I was playing way to much... Online poker took over my personal life. I spent most of my time playing while doing other things i.e. cooking dinner, watching TV etc etc...Very seldom would I focus on just playing. So I decided that when I do start playing real money again. I will play a maximum of 2 SnG a day during the week or 1 MTT. then on the weekend I will have one day to play poker a good chunk of the day but the other day will be relatively poker free unless I play an SnG or two in the morning or something.

Now with this pledge I am making to myself, and my family. I am pledging the time I spend playing poker will be spent playing poker and not just having it open in the background while I do other things.

I also plan to take detailed notes while playing my games something to just start getting me thinking during my play. I truly believe that my decision to play less onlin epoker will actually help me as a player in the long run. I firmly believe if I can dedicate a small amount of time to my play, rather then kinda dedicating a large amount of time I will become a better player over all... Soon enough i will be cashing in for some big money but until then my new goal is to enjoy the game and at the same time enjoy my life outside of the game...

Almost a great night...

Well… Lets see yesterday began innocently enough with me busting out heads up in the first table of a DS Sat. My plan if I win double the entry fee the day prior I will play on right after work. After getting knocked out, I ate dinner and logged on to a 25nl game. The first table I played at I tripled my stack in 87 hands. There was one guy that I noticed real quick was just giving away money and I took him for 30 some dollars… I logged out and took a short breather… Then I log back on and once again I find myself up another 30 dollars with in one hundred hands. Then my play just kind of evened out. I was already thinking of my blog entry for the today. I was thinking how great my mood usually is when I have a good night online that I get to post about. Then it happened I was dealt QQ my least favorite hand in hold ‘em. I lose more money on this hand then any other. Today would be no different when I ran right into AA. I overplayed it I know. This 31.00 hit caused me to play like a maniac for the rest of the night and I went from being up 90 for the month to being down 19…If I could fix this leak… I would be a winning player in cash games… How do I stop misplaying big pots… Anyways if any of you guys where lucky enough to be at my table after I lost that hand your welcome because I donated to you guys the rest of the night… Well my long term goal is still the same I want to make 1k this month in profit, and until that hand I had a pretty good start to it. Well short term goal for the night is to comeback on top, and at least get my bankroll to where I started April off at…

Live 100-R/ A DS and some great blogs...

First let me get the 100-R live game I played this weekend out of the way. It wasn't that big but 17 ppl none the less. I decided to try for the first time to calculate pot odds everyhand. I also counted outs of my opponents as they showed down cards. Now I know this sounds pretty elementary, but it was what I thought the next step was for me. I mean I know how to play my two cards, so I was working on figuring out how other people play their cards. I did not do bad considering it was the first time I tried to watch a whole table at once. As we neared the bubble of three payouts I was a weird zone for me. My brain was working overtime, I was average stack size but had to pick my spots carefully. Once the bubble broke I sighed with relief. Unfortunately with that sigh I lost my focus. I was mentally drained and after 5 hours of this I could not regain focus I went out in third cashing for 300 dollars... Not bad for a guy who six months ago could barely hold onto his chips.

Sunday was a really good day... Not necessarily poker wise but I got spend some quality time with the family. We went to a local park here in Japan, and I flew kites with my kids, there was this weird rock climbing slide my 3 yr old just loved. I took them to a kind of petting zoo. Then we went home. Now why did I tell you this. Well because I usually would play poker then go do something else. I reversed it yesterday and I really seemed to focus more when i finally did play.

I decided I wanted to play a DS sat to the Sunday Million. Not because I want to play in the Sunday Million, but because I want the cash. Well that is not entirely true I would like to play in the Sunday Million but due to work and the time difference here in Japan I have not been able to. Although in April I will be working night shift so I might play in it then.

Man I am really getting off subject today/... Anyways I FT'd the Sat I played and I have to thank Mark for writing a strategy guide for these DS. It helped me adjust my play for the sat. Also I have to give it up to The Main for profiting $4567.10 he has set a goal of 10k for April and if he hits it he is going to pay for a freeroll on stars. for his reader. Now I was thinking as I read his blog. I think he is ten times the player that I am so he should be making about 10 x's the money right.... Well then I have a goal whatever The Main makes in april my goal is to make 1 tenth of it...

See you at the tables...
